We completed the 2025 Club Championship yesterday with plenty of fireworks throughout the round. Thanks to everyone who participated as this is our Marquee Stroke Play Event. We teed off in order based on the First Round results with the pressure ramping up as the Final Groups made their way through the course. When you add in the fact that many of the the pin positions were in some of the toughest spots we have ever seen it made for a very challenging test. We only had competitor break Net Par (Steve Moore) and only 1 other shot Even Net Par (Kermit Benson). In fact, the Net scoring average for the Field was 78.2, 3.6 shots higher than Round 1, and the highest that I can recall.
It is with great honor and distinction that we welcome 2 New Champions joining the list of great GSMC players from the past 8 years. Lets hear it for Jeff Hott and John Jensen your 2025 Net Co- Champions posting a 3 over Par 143, 3 shots ahead of Tully Gordon in 3rd with Howard Hawk and Steve Moore rounding out the Net Top 5 a few shots back. This is the 2nd Year that we have had a Tie so a Sudden Death Playoff for next year is being discussed, or we stick with Co- Champions. In the Gross Division we crown Manny Trautmann with his 3rd GSMC Club Championship Title shooting a 154, 3 clear of 2nd Place Steve Herring with Dennis Willard winning 3rd Place also a few back. The singular highlight of the day was Brad Towle with a “Towle in One” on Hole 16, his 1st at Gleneagle and 6th overall. Thanks to Brad’s great skill and the GSMC Hole in One endowment, all the players were able to enjoy something cold to drink on the 19th Hole while sharing Club Championship stories.
